Oceana Win!
About the Scheme
In March 2006 the Best Bar None award scheme was launched with the objective of recognising good management practices within the licensed trade. The criteria used to judge venues was based on minimum standards required under the new Licensing Act.
Venues were judged on how their premises prevent and deal with drunkenness, drugs, disorder and theft as well as issues around public safety and their contribution to the upkeep of their immediate environment.
All venues who entered the scheme, and met the minimum standard were accreddited in recognition of their good work. Any venues exceeding the minimum standard received additional points which would then be used to decide each category winner and ultimately the overall winner.
Organisations could compete within the categories of Best Nightclub, Best Bar or Best Pub. Winners of these categories then went on to battle it out to become the overall Best Bar None venue.
